NOW ANYONE WHO REMEMBERS THIS SONG, PLEASE COMMENT TO LET ME KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE. IN THE 80'S I WAS A HUGE FAN OF FIVE STAR. SO NATURALLY, WHEN THIS SONG WAS RELEASE IN 1991, I WAS IMMEDIATELY IN LOVE WITH IT. EVEN NOW, THE MELODY OF THIS TUNE RIVALS MUCH OF WHAT IS ON RADIO NOW. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ABOUT THE VIDEO, THEIR HAIR AND CARTAH (GAY TERM FOR FACIAL STRUCTURE). DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CHECK BOTH THE SONG AND VIDEO OUT.

.:FLASHBACK FRIDAY:.

ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED GROUPS OF THE 90s, DURING THEIR BRIEF TIME ON THE SCENE, JADE MANAGED TO SCORE A PLATINUM DEBUT ALBUM, A GOLD LIVE ALBUM AND THEN FINALLY, A GOLD SOPHOMORE ALBUM. I WAS FAN WHEN I FIRST HEARD THEIR DEBUT PLATINUM SINGLE I WANNA LOVE YOU. DON'T EVEN GET ME TALKIN' ABOUT THEIR SECOND SINGLE AND BIGGEST HIT DON'T WALK AWAY. I REMEMBER ME AND BEST FRIEND ROBERT WEARING SHORTS WITH A PAIR OF BOOTS THAT WE BOUGHT AT PAYLESS, A PAIR OF BOOTS WE AFFECTIONATELY CALLED "OUR JADE BOOTS." I AM SURE THAT IF MY MOTHER HAD ALLOWED, I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN DOOKIE BRAIDS TOO!

.:FLASHBACK FRIDAY:.

THE GOOD GIRLS HAD ALL THE MAKINGS OF SUPER POP GROUP - UNFORTUNATELY THEY CAME OUT FIVE YEARS TOO EARLY. THEIR DEBUT SINGLE YOUR SWEETNESS WAS RELEASED IN LATE 1989 AND CHARTED IN 1990 REACHING ON THE LOWER PART OF BILLBOARD'S HOT 100. FRANKLY, THE SONG WAS JUST TOO DAMN SLAMMIN' FOR RADIO. THESE GIRLS LITERALLY SAVED MY LIFE. THE SUMMER OF 1990 WAS PROBABLY THE MOST ALIENATING TIME OF MY LIFE. I SPENT THE ENTIRE SUMMER LOCKED IN MY ROOM. I'D PLAY THEIR DEBUT ALBUM ALL FOR YOUR LOVE ALL DAY AND NIGHT. IF YOU HAVE NEVER HEARD THIS SONG, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DOWNLOAD THIS. THIS SONG IS AND REMAINS ONE THE MOST AMAZING NEW JACK SWING PRODUCTION. THANK YOU SHIREEN, DOMINCA AND JOYCE - YOUR SWEETNESS IS STILL MY WEAKNESS.
BEFORE MISS BRITNEY THREW ON A CATHOLIC SCHOOL GIRL OUTFIT -- THE GOOD GIRLS WERE ROCKIN' THIS LOOK FOR THE HOOD! AND THESE COULD ROCK A LIVE SHOW TOO!

ex-girlfriend were the en vogue of new jack swing. they were raw, raunchy and bad girls who sang! produced by the legendary producers full force, ex-girlfriend only managed to score one top 20 on the r&b charts with their 1991 hit why can't you come home. their second single you (you're the one for me) failed to ignite radio but it is my fave from the group. they would go on on to release two albums before breaking up in 1994. aaahhh, how i so miss the 90s!
.:flashback friday:.

if you were a video soul addict like i was in the 90s, then you know about this group. one of the first acts signed to laface records, damian dame were coolest duo in r&b. while their pop success was limited, they did manage to score a pair of 20 hits on the r&b chart including the number one r&b hit exclusivity. the third and final single was my fave gotta learn my rhythm. i used to love this video and run the hell out of the cassette single. their 1992 debut album had a more than a few solid tunes and i am sure that their sophomore album would have been just as good. unfortunately, deah dame passed away in a fatal car accident in 1994 and damian succumbing to colon cancer in 1996. their music lives forever and this song still rocks!

if i had the power to build and create a cult, it would be in the name of the good girls. the motown trio's music is attached to so many of my early teen years. i could have not survived the teasing and ridicule had it not been for their debut album all for your love. but enough about me! i need your love was the third and final single released the album. while not as successful as their album's two previous singles, i need your love continues to be a fave for fans of new jack swing. check out the rare untouchables hip-hop remix. enjoy!.:i need your love [untouchables hip-hop mix]:.

in 1991, when laface records was beginning to make it's mark in the industry. one of the first acts signed was the new jack swing duo damian dame. i was a fan from the beginning, partly because who could not love a male/female duo who had the same hair style? gotta learn my rhythm, their third and final single from their debut album is without a doubt my fave. the single mix was remixed by a then unknown producer named jermaine dupri. unfortunately, the duo would only release one album. dame (debra jean hurd) passed away june 27, 1994 at the age of 35 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. damian (bruce edward broadus) passed away june 27, 1996 at the age of 29 from colon cancer. here is to their memory. .:gotta learn my rhythm:.

signed to capitol records during a time when radio was hesitant to give actors radio spins, tisha campbell took a chance and released her only album. released in january of 1993, the self titled debut was a solid effort (for the time.) the first single, the new jack swing push was a funky fiesta. too bad both r&b and pop radio ignored it. a follow-up single, love me down followed but radio reminded tisha to not quit her day job. you decide, take a listen to push..:push:.

jade's first success was their debut hit single, i wanna love you. it led the way for their best known single, don't walk away. the single climbed all the way to #2 on the pop charts and was certified gold. this song, as well as other hit singles helped to push their debut album, jade to the max, to platinum-selling status. the would later release one live album and a sophomore album to less than spectacular sales. here is jade at their finest!.:don't walk away:.

ex-girlfriend had the benefit of working with full force on their debut. after supplying luscious background vocals for jasmine guy on her debut single try me, the group dropped their debut album x marks the spot. the lead single, why can't you come home? was an r&b smash. their follow up singles would not fair as well and their sophmore cd went unnoticed. however, ex-girlfriend remains one of the most talented female groups of the 90's. check 'em out!.:why can't you come home?:.

the good girls were motown records new jack version of the supremes. the group's debut album all for your love (one of my fave albums as a teen) was heavily influenced by the new jack sound of the late 80's. the group's second album just call me was released in 1992 with lukewarm success. check out the title track..:just call me:.

good 2 go was a female r&b vocal group from los angeles. their single never satisfied peaked at #64 on the billboard pop charts and at #10 on billboard's r&b chart in 1992. the group would have probably had some longevity had their label not spent all of it's energy on trying to break them exclusively at urban radio. this special post is for hotteacher. let's walk down memory lane together -- new jack style!.:never satisfied [single remix]:.

after jody watley, paula abdul and janet jackson soared to the top of the pop charts with catchy dance songs and slick dance moves, rca records wanted a bite of the action. tyler collins was singer, dance and theatre actress. influenced by the new jack song of the late 80's, her single girls nite out soared to #6 on billboard's hot 100. i feel so old! well here is to the 90's!.:girls nite out:.
